Accumulating snow is possible through early Monday morning across southern Indiana and north-central Kentucky, including the Elizabethtown and Somerset areas. After an initial mix of rain and snow across southern Indiana, snow is expected to overspread north-central Kentucky and the Bluegrass region during the early morning hours. Accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible.

Given the potential of unusually severe weather this afternoon, the WKU Main and South Campuses will close at 12:30 p.m. today.  The Glasgow campus will close at 1 p.m. Central, and the Elizabethtown/Radcliff/Fort Knox campuses at 1 p.m. Eastern. We are awaiting a possible announcement from the Director of the Owensboro campus. 

According to the National Weather Service, a significant severe weather outbreak is possible across much of central Kentucky and possibly south-central Indiana this afternoon and evening.

Much of our region is under a tornado watch today.  Two waves of storms are expected, bringing a threat of severe storms and tornadoes. Some areas are already experiencing severe weather.

According to the National Weather Service, strengthening low pressure will move into Indiana today. Scattered strong to severe storms are expected to accompany the resulting cold front.

Portions of our coverage area are expected to receive a mix of rain and snow Sunday. Snow accumulation is possible--up to four inches in the Eastern parts of our coverage area. More from the National Weather Service.

KYTC Snow and Ice Team members will monitor the winter weather.  Highway crews will be on-call to respond should the winter precipitation become more organized and accumulate to a point it adversely impacts driving conditions.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory.  A pair of weather systems is bringing a wintry mix to the region. Light snow (accumulating one to two inches) and falling temperatures will cause potentially hazardous driving conditions across southern Indiana, central Kentucky, and parts of northern Tennessee Friday night and early Saturday.

 

According to a Coast Guard press release, a salvage plan was approved on Friday to remove both the M/V Delta Mariner ship from the damaged Eggner's Ferry Bridge, and the section of the bridge that remains on the nose of the ship.
