Another Administration Resignation

By AP

Frankfort, KY – Governor Fletcher's senior advisor and former chief of staff has resigned.
Daniel Groves forst notified Fletcher of his intention to resign September 1st. His resignation is effective immediately.
Groves says he resigned to pursue other career opportunities in the private sector and that it had nothing to do with the on-going attorney general's investigation into Fletcher administration merit system hiring practices.
Groves started working for Fletcher in 1994 as treasurer for Fletcher's campaign for the state house. In 1997, Groves managed Fletcher's campaign for U. S. Congress and later became his chief of staff in the Governor's office. In November he became Fletcher's senior advisor in a shake-up of the executive cabinet.
Fletcher spokeswoman Jodi Whitaker says it was uncertain whether Groves' most recent position would be filled.
In a written statement, Fletcher said Groves had been a friend of his for more than ten years and wished him well.
