Hartford, Ky – The arson trial for two former Beaver Dam firefighters is being held in Ohio Circuit court.
A jury was seated Monday, then a recess was called to allow prosecutors and defense attorneys to review potential new evidence. Seven men and 8 women were chosen from a jury pool of 90 people to hear the evidence against John Gaither and Paul Shephard.
A third defendant, 21 year old Aaron Creek, has accepted a plea agreement. No sentenced was decided, but a condition of the agreement is that Creek "testify truthfull" against the other defendants.
The other two were indicted last March on multiple counts of arson and burglary charges related to fires at vacant homes in and around Beaver Dam in 2003 and 2004.
