Authorities Warn Motorists About Rest Stop Dangers

By AP

Williamsburg, KY – Kentucky authorities are warning motorists to use caution around
interstate rest stops in the Commonwealth, after a rape at a
Kentucky Welcome Center. The assault reportedly
took place at the Welcome Center on Interstate 75, just north
of the Tennessee border.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Craig Sutton says the victim was in
her car when a man approached and told her that something was
leaking beneath her car. Sutton said that when she stepped out
of the vehicle, the man forced her back into the car and sexually
assaulted her. The man was allegedly armed with a knife.

State Police have increased their presence at rest stops and have
sent out a nationwide bulletin about the alleged rape. The incident
was reported early this morning.
