overcharge, perform sub-par work, or leave town after receiving payment for work they haven't completed. The BBB recommends working only with licensed and insured contractors and to resist hiring a contractor who wants to be paid for the entire repair job up front. The Better Business Bureau can also provide information about whether complaints have been filed against a particular contractor.
