Democrats Respond To Fletcher's Insurance Plan

By AP

Frankfort, KY – A host of Democratic legislators and candidates converged on the state capitol Thursday for a mass criticism of the new health insurance plan being implemented by Governor Fletcher.
There's a dispute between the administration and house Democrats about who's to blame for higher coverage costs. Also at issue is whether the Democrats' unsuccessfully proposed budget would have made coverage less costly.
House Speaker Jody Richards says it would. State budget director Brad Cowgill, who personall attended the Democratic event, says it wouldn't. There's currently no budget at all because of the house and senate failed to agree on a budget before adjourning in April.
Legislative elections are coming in November. Cowgill says the Democrats are engagaing in demagoguery. Richards says the event wasn't called for political reasons.
