Flood Waters Receding

By AP

Paducah, KY – The Ohio River at Paducah continues to recede after cresting a day earlier than expected at 48 feet. City engineer Rick Murphy says no flood gates will be taken down until the city is sure the water won't come back up.
Murphy says he doesn't want to take any gates out too soon, noting that high water could bounce back if more substantial rain should occur.
Paducah has 14 flood gates installed, but plans to put up a 15th gate Tuesday have been changed and it will be elft on standby.
The Green River continues a slow fall at Paradise and Calhoun. The Green crested a half foot over flood stage Monday night at paradise.
The crest at Calhoun was a foot over flood stage, but the green is falling there as well. The Ohio River at Evansville is steady, almost two feet over flood stage.
It's predicted to remain steady through Tuesday, then begin a slow fall and drop below flood stage by Sunday. The Ohio is already falling at Maysville and Louisville
