Owensboro, KY – The Scottsville man accused of killing a Western Kentucky University student was acquitted Monday afternoon after the jury deliberated three hours.
Lucas Goodrum was cleared on all counts including murder, rape, sodomy and arson. The aunt of murder victim Katie Autry says she fears for other yound women now that Goodrum is a free man.
Virginia White believes jurors should have given more weight to the testimony of Stephen Soules who pleaded guilty last year to taking part in the killing in exchange for his testimony against Goodrum.
Although Soules repeatedly lied throughout the investigation, White says his testimony was in line with other testimony from other witnesses, plus his testimony was consistent with Katie Autry's injuries
