Henderson County Coroner: Cotter Died of Single Gunshot Wound to Torso

The Henderson Police Department tells WKU Public Radio they are preparing to release a statement regarding the murder investigation of Michelle Cotter, the Henderson County schools dance instructor shot to death early Tuesday morning.

So far no arrests have been made in the case, but Cotter’s husband—Steven Cotter—is being investigated. He was found with a gun inside the couple’s home where Michelle Cotter was shot.

Henderson County coroner Bruce Farmer says Cotter died of a single gunshot wound to the torso. He told WKU Public Radio Wednesday afternoon the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s office conducted Cotter’s autopsy in Louisville yesterday.

He said while a preliminary report could be released soon, the official autopsy report could take from four to six weeks.
