House Speaker Says Education Must Remain Top Priority

By Dan Modlin

Bowling Green, KY – The Speaker of the Kentucky House of Representatives
says education will remain his top priority for the next
session of the General Assembly. Representative
Jody Richards of Bowling Green says funding for
public education and higher education must be maintained
at adequate levels if the state is to meet its potential.

Richards also explained his decision earlier this week
not to run for Governor. In an interview with Western's
Public Radio, the Democrat from Bowling Green said
the recent passage of the state budget helped him to
reflect on the impact he can have on the state as Speaker
of the House. Richards has served as Speaker of the House
for a longer period than any other lawmaker in the history
of the Commonwealth.
