Kentucky Snow Showers Cause Slick Roads, School Closures

Snow showers across much of Kentucky have caused roadways to become slick and several school districts to close.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory on Friday for areas across the state. It said snow showers are expected for much of the day, and accumulations would amount to about an inch in most areas. The northern-most counties in Kentucky could see up to 2 inches.

The snow was expected to cause slick roadways and reduced visibility.

Several minor accidents were reported Friday morning. Kentucky Department of Transportation spokeswoman Andrea Clifford said crews were out treating roadways.

The snowfall also led several school districts to cancel classes, though some -- including Jefferson County -- remained on a normal schedule.
