Key Baath Party Official Killed

Mosul, Iraq – A 101st Airborne Second Brigade Spokesman
says a key Baath party figure has been killed in
a raid. The Baath leader is described as a key
figure plotting against coalition and Iraqi
authorities.

Captain Brian Cope has identified the dead
man as Abu Fares. The man was killed yesterday
when he opened fire on U-S forces during a
raid. Eight other people were arrested in the
raid, which was conducted by members of the
101st Airborne, which is based at Fort Campbell.
