Key State Lawmaker Injured in Auto Crash

Richmond, KY – One person has been killed and a state legislator has
been injured in a highway crash in Richmond. Representative
Harry Moberly was treated for broken bones at Pattie A. Clay
hospital in Richmond.

The Madison County Coroner's office confirms that a
second person was pronounced dead at the scene of
the crash. Identity of the victim has been withheld, pending
notification of family members.

State Senator Ed Worley rushed to the scene of the
accident. He says Moberly's injuries are not life-threatening,
but he says Moberly is "broken hearted" about the fatality.

Moberly is Chairman of the House Appropriations
Committee. He is regarded as one of the most
influential members of the General Assembly.

House Speaker Jody Richards has issued a statement,
calling on members of the General Assembly to keep
everyone involved in the accident in their prayers.
