Legislative Plaza Still Not Ready

By AP

Nashville, TN – Workers are still trying to finish the Legislative Plaza's $9 million indoor remodel before lawmakers convene in Nashville Tuesday for their legislative session.
Work continued through the weekend, with crews finishing carpet, paint, chair railings and a host of other chores.
Water damage to the underground 1960's-era facility led to mold and marred surfaces. Cigarette smoke has also taken its toll on the building.
The blocked-off War Memorial Plaza above, where pedestrians often stroll and state workers eat lunch, is also still under construction. Granite and marble slabs have been temporarily pulled up to waterproof surfaces below.
Outside work is scheduled for completion this summer.
