Monroe County Mourning Death of 14 Year Old

By AP

Tompkinsville, KY – Several students at Monroe County High School have gone to classes Monday wearing pink and black ribbons in memory of a 14 year old classmate who died Saturday.
Police say they were called to the residence of 43 year old Billy Melton Saturday morning and found Jodi Pace unresponsive. Paramedics took her to the Monroe County Medical Center where she died.
Officers have arrested Melton, charging him with third degree rape, terroristic threatening, intimidating a witness and tampering with physical evidence.
State police sergeant Bobby Sullivan says there were other girls at Melton's house at the time of Pace's death, but all charges relate to pace. Monroe County attorney Wes Stephens says additional charges could be filed when the county's grand jury meets Wednesday.
Melton was booked into the Monroe County jail Saturday and is being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
