Frankfort, KY – Two new appointees to Kentucky's education professional standards board bring a wide range of knowledge and educational expertise with them. Charles Evans of Bowling Green and Rita Presley of Somerset were named to the board by Governor Fletcher.
Evans is the dean of Western Kentucky University's College of Education and Behavioral Sciences and represents deans of colleges of education.
Presley is a teacher in the Science Hill Independent School system and represents elementary teachers.
The Kentucky Board of Education is beginning a two day meeting in Frankfort. Topics include design of a "secondary GED program" intended to prevent school dropouts.
