New Laws Take Effect Monday

By AP

Frankfort, Ky – More than 150 new laws went into effect Monday including one that makes it tougher to buy ingredients used in making the drug methamphetamine.
Senate Bill 63 places tighter controls over cold medicines that are used to manufacture meth.
Other statutes require the closure of public schools for primary elections, designate July 1st of each year as Kentucky Retired Veterans Day and makes milk the official beverage of the state.
Other new laws prevent restaurants from being sued on the grounds that the food they served contributed to obesity and exempts some sensitive Homeland Security documents, such as terrorism vulnerability assessments, from open records requests
