No Power Line Through Forest

Frankfort, KY – A power company will not be allowed to run a 4.8 mile power line through the Daniel Boone National Forest.
The Kentucky Public Service Commission rejected that request Thursday.
The commission's order said East Kentucky Power Company should have considered routes along existing rights of way as an alternative to crossing through the forest.
East Kentucky power had sought to run 6.9 miles of 138 kilovolt line from a sub-station near Morehead to another sub-station near Triplett.
Two environmentalist groups and Rown County resident Doug Doerrfeld sued August 5th in U. S. District Court at Lexington seeking to stop the line's construction. The groups said the line would cut through one of the largest chunks of forested land in the area...Big Perry Mountain
