Bowling Green, KY – Republican U-S Senator Mitch McConnell says he's optimistic that the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction can succeed in its mission of reducing the federal deficit. But the lawmaker from Louisville, who appointed three of the twelve members of the Joint Committee, says entitlement reform will have to be part of that deficit reduction process. McConnell says its essential that the Committee members meet their November deadline.
