London, KY – Students and faculty members at South Laurel High School held a memorial service Tuesday for an Army soldier killed in Iraq.
Sergeant First Class Lance Cornett graduated from the high school in London fifteen years ago.
Students in the school's ROTC program gave Cornett a farewell salute and played "Taps" during the morning service.
Cornett died in fighting in central Iraq last week. He had joined the Army right out of high school in 1991.
