Speed Limit Bill Passes Senate

By AP

Frankfort, KY – A bill that would let motorists drive Kentucky's interstate highways and parkways at 70 mph has cleared the state senate.
The speed limit on other state highways with four or more lanes would be 65 mph.
Senator Brett Guthrie of Warren County is the bill's sponsor. He says Kentucky would join 30 other states that already have at least 70 mph speed limits.
House speaker Jody Richards says he thinks the speed limit bill would fare favorably in the House also, where a similar bill is pending.
