State Of The Commonwealth Speech Set

By AP

Frankfort, KY – Governor Fletcher is scheduled to deliver his third State of the Commonwealth address Monday night.
The Governor said recently he was saving some key details of his legislative agenda for the State of the Commonwealth and budget speeches.
Last week Fletcher said he was also planning to recap some of his administration's successes during his first two years.
Fletcher is scheduled to address both chambers of the general assembly at 7:00 pm Eastern time in the Kentucky House chambers.
State Senator Julian Carroll says Fletcher should use the speech to lay out his legislative priorities.
The former Governor says he hopes to hear from Fletcher on topics such as education funding, health care and expanded gambling.
Carroll says Kentucky needs leadership out of the Governor and adds that Fletcher can set tone for the legislative session.
Senate president David Williams says Fletcher can list his accomplishments and map his agenda during the speech, but it's up to lawmakers to work together.
The Burkesville Republican adds the responsibility is on the leadership of the House and Senate and the members of the General Assembly to work in a bipartisan way.
House Speaker Jody Richards of Bowling Green says Fletcher should give a broad outline of his plans.
Richards says he's looking to gauge Fletcher's support on a variety of issues House Democrtas are pushing this session including a boost in teacher salaries.
Richards says there are family issues that need to be addressed and he hopes the Governor embraces them
