State Senator to Lose Committee Posts

By AP/Dan Modlin

Paducah, KY/ Frankfort, KY – The State Senator from Western Kentucky who quit the
Republican Party over a disputed state Senate race is
losing his committee Chairmanship. Senator Bob Leeper
of Paducah has been replaced as Co-Chair of the
Senate Capital Construction and Oversight Committee.
Leeper is also facing the loss of his Vice-Chairmanship
of the Transportation Committee.

Leeper dropped out of the G-O-P earlier this year, when
he became dissatisfied with how Republican leadership
in the State Senate dealt with the contested election in the
state's 37th District.

Senate President David Williams of Burkesville says the
rules of the Legislative Research Commission require that
Committee Co-Chairs be members of the majority party.
