State Trooper to Return to Duty After Shooting

By AP

Jenkins, KY – A Letcher County Grand Jury has declined to indict a
Kentucky State Trooper who shot and killed an unarmed
man during a January drug deal. The Grand Jury
expressed sympathy to the family of 62 year old
James Alexander of Roanoke, Virginia, but found
no criminal conduct in the January 14th incident.

State Police Sergeant Bobby Day shot Alexander twice
with an automatic rifle during an undercover operation.
The Grand Jury found that Day was justified, given the
circumstances at the time of the shooting.

State Police Sergeant Phil Crumpton says Day will
return to active duty soon. He had been assigned to
desk duty since the shooting.
