Talks Underway to Form Restaurant Association in Owensboro

An Owensboro restaurant owner is hoping to revive the restaurant association for the city, which has been without such an organization for nearly two decades.

Larry Kirk, who owns The Miller House, says he's spoken with more than 35 restaurant owners who are interested in creating a new association.  Kirk told the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer that restaurant owners need be aware of possible state legislation creating a local restaurant tax.

The Kentucky League of Cities has been pushing legislation allowing every city to levy restaurant taxes.  The money must be spent for tourism promotion and development.
