Wheels of Justice Temporarily Come to a Halt in Kentucky

WKU Public Radio

Courthouse doors are locked in Kentucky for a mandatory furlough day, the first time in decades the court system has shut down to balance its budget.  All court services, from trials to driver’s licensing are suspended statewide. A statement from the Kentucky Court of Justice says budget reductions the past four years have cut 282 positions eliminated some court programs, and trimmed operating costs.  Monday is the first of three mandatory furlough days this year.  The next is September 4th.
