Arrest Made in Assault on Kentucky Medal of Honor Winner

Kentucky native Dakota Meyer was presented the Medal of Honor by President Obama in 2011.

Kentucky State Police have arrested a Columbia, Ky., teenager in an alleged assault on Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported Meyer was involved in the altercation over the weekend at a venue near Columbia.

WYMT-TV reported Meyer was injured badly enough that he was treated at a local hospital and released.

Police said Thursday they arrested 18-year-old Kanissa’a Thompson and charged him with second-degree assault.

Kentucky Medal of Honor Recipient Recovering After Fight

Kentucky native Dakota Meyer was presented with the Medal of Honor by President Obama.

Kentucky State Police are investigating an alleged assault on Medal of Honor winner Dakota Meyer.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported Meyer was involved in the altercation over the weekend at a venue near Columbia.

WYMT-TV reports Meyer was injured badly enough that he was treated at a local hospital and released.

Police have released little information in the case. They say they are investigating the alleged assault to see whether charges will be filed.

Kentucky Medal of Honor Recipient to Attend Job Fair

Kentucky native Dakota Meyer received the Medal of Honor in a ceremony at the White House.

Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer of Kentucky is appearing at a job fair for veterans in Louisville this week. WAVE-TV reports the event will be from 9 a.m. to noon EDT Tuesday at the West Hall of the Kentucky Exposition Center. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Hiring Our Heroes event is for veterans and military spouses.
