Research in Kentucky to Explore Impact of Military Suicides

With the rate of suicides among military personnel continuing to rise, a University of Kentucky professor is leading a study to investigate the effect those deaths have on family and friends left behind. Based on previous research, it’s estimated that around 40% of Kentuckians know someone who has taken their own life.

Leader of Ft. Knox Combat Team Leaving Post for Ft. Campbell

The leader of an infantry brigade combat team stationed at Fort Knox is relinquishing command of the brigade at a ceremony tomorrow morning. But he’s not going far.

In fact, Col. Chris Toner is going from one Kentucky military installation to another.

The Kansas native has led the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division for the past three years. He was responsible for helping move the Brigade from Fort Hood, Texas to Fort Knox after the Brigade’s first deployment to Afghanistan.

Famous Actor to Help Dedicate Memorial at Hardin County Post

Kevin Costner will be at Fort Knox this weekend for the unveiling of a memorial honoring soldiers under the 11th Aviation Command and subordinate units. The Elizabethtown News-Enterprise  says Costner will speak at the memorial Saturday morning and will dedicate a song, "The Angels Came Down," that he wrote in honor of those who have lost family members in war.
