Steps Taken to Get Absentee Ballots to Kentucky Military Voters

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes says Kentucky’s county clerks started sending absentee ballots to military and other eligible voters last week. Grimes says the process of sending, filling out and returning an absentee ballot can take several weeks for some active duty military members.

Grimes Wants Kentucky Military Personnel to be Able to Vote Via Email

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes is asking lawmakers to pass legislation next year to ensure that Kentucky soldiers deployed overseas are able to cast ballots. One of the measures Grimes proposed during a Capitol press conference on Wednesday would allow soldiers to return absentee ballots via email, lifting a requirement that ballots be send back via the U.S. Postal Service.

Thirty-Seven Thousand Kentucky Businesses Failed to Meet Filing Deadline

State officials in Kentucky say more than 150,000 businesses in the state met the July 2nd deadline for filing annual report information with the Secretary of State's office. However, 37,000 didn't meet the deadline and are now listed as no longer "in good standing."  Those who failed to file in time still have sixty days to take care of the report.

Filing Deadline Monday for Independent Candidates

Monday is the deadline for independent candidates in Kentucky to file in order to be placed on the November ballot.  Pursuant to existing statutes in Kentucky, individuals who want to run as independent, political organization or political group candidates in the state must file  Statement of Candidacy forms by 4:00 pm, Eastern time.
