County Commission Appeal Latest Chapter in Tennessee Mosque Controversy

The Rutherford County Commission has voted to appeal a judge's ruling that voided the approval of a mosque for failing to provide adequate public notice about the facility's construction. The Commission voted 15-6 in favor of the appeal Thursday evening.

Anti-Muslim Tennessee Group Wants Lawyer Hired by Governor Fired

A group that has attacked the construction of a mosque in Murfreesboro is now taking aim at a recent hire by Governor Bill Haslam who is Muslim. The Tennessean reports the Center for Security Policy and the 8th District Tea Party Coalition are urging their members to put pressure on the state to dump Samar Ali, an attorney appointed last month as the new international director for the state's Economic and Community Development Office.

Tennessee Mosque Controversy Continues, with County Commission Fighting Judge's Ruling

Rutherford County's planning commission has voted to appeal a ruling that voided their approval of a new mosque. The Daily News Journal reports the commission voted for the appeal 6-1 at its meeting Monday night.
