Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes says Kentucky’s county clerks started sending absentee ballots to military and other eligible voters last week. Grimes says the process of sending, filling out and returning an absentee ballot can take several weeks for some active duty military members.

The FBI has opened an investigation into Richie Farmer's tenure as agriculture commissioner. Farmer's successor, James Comer, confirmed the revelation Friday. Comer says the office of Attorney General Jack Conway informed him the FBI would be contacting current agriculture commission employees who served during Farmer's eight year stint, from 2004-2011.
U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell is calling on his colleagues to take action on a "multitude of crisis-level issues" facing the United States. McConnell said in a floor speech Thursday that constituents sent their federal lawmakers to Washington to make a difference. But with an election approaching, he said little is being done to confront major challenges facing the country.
