Storm Damage Clean-up Underway

Bowling Green, KY – Several parts of Kentucky are recovering from a string
of strong thunderstorms that raced across the Commonwealth
yesterday. The storms brought heavy rain and high winds
that toppled trees and knocked out power.

Daviess County 9-1-1 Director Paul Nave says dozens of
downed trees blocked roads across Davies County
yesterday. A significant portion of the county lost power
as a result of the falling trees.

Lawyers Have Nine More Days to Submit Case Law in Goodrum Case

Bowling Green, KY – The special judge presiding over the dormitory fire
murder case in Bowling Green is giving attorneys
nine more days to submit case law, regarding the
question of whether he is bound by previous rulings
against providing bond in the case. The previous
bond rulings came from Judge Joseph Huddleston,
before special judge Tom Castlen was assigned to
the case.

State Auditor Undergoes Colon Surgery

Lexington, KY – Kentucky State Auditor Crit Luallen has successfully
undergone surgery this morning to remove a section
of her colon, which contained a tumor. According to
a news release from her office, a preliminary biopsy
indicates that the growth was benign.

Dr. John Stewart performed the surgery at St.Joseph's
Hospital in Lexington, and he anticipates a full recovery.
Ms. Luallen in expected to stay in the hospital the next
four to seven days.

Fort Campbell Soldier Killed in Motorcycle Crash

Hopkinsville, KY – A Fort Campbell Soldier has died of injuries suffered in
a Christian County motorcycle crash. Coroner Dorris Lamb
says 23 year old William Richardson the second died
Sunday afternoon at the scene of the wreck. Lamb says
Richardson died the result of a head injury.

State Police say Richardson was northbound on
Bradshaw Road and was traveling at a high rate of
speed when he entered a curve and lost control of
the motorcycle.

Funeral Service Set for Kentucky Marine Killed in Iraq

Louisville, KY – A 24 year old Marine from Kentucky who was killed
by hostile fire in Iraq will be buried this weekend.
Funeral services for Lance Corporal Deshon Otey
of Radcliff are scheduled for eleven A-M, eastern
time, Saturday.

The Services will be held at First Baptist Church in
Elizabethtown. He is to be buried with full military
honors in Calvary Cemetary in Louisville. The
Rifleman was based at Camp Pendleton, California.
