After many years of distinguished service to WKU Public Radio, News Director Dan Modlin is retiring--his last day with us is Friday, January 4th (well, sort of...see below).
Dan is a native of Indiana who grew up in a broadcasting family. A graduate of Ball State University, he worked for several years in the news network business in the Midwest, specializing in agricultural and political coverage, before coming to WKU Public Radio.
WKU Public Radio is here thanks to listeners who become members.
There's still time to support WKU Public Radio and be entered into a drawing for a Kindle Fire HD (see contest rules and details here). The deadline is December 31st.
This is a great time of year to make a tax-deductible year-end gift to support the programs you enjoy on WKU Public Radio. You don't have to pledge to enter the drawings, but of course we hope you'll use this opportunity to become a new member, renew your membership, or make a bonus gift.
Consider becoming a sustaining member and be automatically entered for all future contest drawings. Your ongoing monthly gift (at whatever amount you choose) goes a long way to keeping the programming strong at WKU Public Radio.
Join online anytime by clicking the Donate Now button at the top of the page. To enter without supporting the station, send an email with your name, address, and email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Update at 12:25pm C.T.: The transmitter is back at full power now. Thanks to Chief Engineer Don Eastman for getting things sorted out so quickly!
A tree-trimming crew accidentally damaged the power line to WKYU-FM Wednesday morning. As a result, we are broadcasting via an auxillary transmitter while damage is assessed and repaired. This reduces the coverage area for 88.9FM, and may therefore affect your reception. This does not affect our webstream.
Thanks for your patience while our engineers work on this!
Membership support makes the programs possible on WKU Public Radio. The news, interviews, and entertainment shows you enjoy are all here thanks to listeners who become members.
It's how public radio works, and your membership really matters. As we head into the final days of the drive, we encourage you to join with us to keep WKU Public Radio strong.
Our membership drive is a great time to show your support for everything your public radio station does. You can call us during the pledge drive at 800-599-9598. It's also easy to join online--just click the Donate Now button at the top of the page.
You can learn more about how membership works, and check out our thank-you gifts here.
The WKYU-FM transmitter is operating at full power again following a period of reduced power operation on Monday--this the result of KET repairing some damage to the tower. Thanks for your patience while this work was completed.
Thanks for helping us reach our membership goal this fiscal year! As you know, membership support covers most of our programming costs, and your membership really matters!
Programs like Morning Edition, Fresh Air, Barren River Breakdown, All Things Considered and so many more make public radio unique, and worth supporting. We couldn't do it without you. Thanks for doing your part!
