Early Morning Storms Hit Kentucky, Little Damage

Strong storms swept through the Kentucky and Tennessee overnight and early this morning sparking dozens of severe weather watches and warnings but leaving minimal damage.

Emergency management officials in central Kentucky say two people were injured when winds blew a mobile home off its foundation near Campbellsville as a storm blew through the state.

Marion County Emergency Management Director Hayden Johnson says a 32-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy were treated for minor injuries early Wednesday, but no other damage or injuries were reported in the central Kentucky county.

Buddy Rogers with the Kentucky Emergency Management System says McCreary County reported several trees down and 1,000 people without power.

Warren RECC says strong, straight-line winds caused damage and power outages throughout their eight county area beginning about 2:00 a.m. At one point, as many as 5,000 members were without power but that number was reduced to just over 1,000 by 7:00 a.m. mostly in the Oakland, Smiths Grove and Park City areas.

Reports from the National Weather Service concerned mostly downed trees and power lines and debris over roadways.
