WKU AD Likes Idea of Short College Football Playoff Series

The current BCS format could be changed next week to a four-team playoff system.

WKU's Athletic Director says a proposed four-team playoff model for college football would be a good move for the game. Todd Stewart tells WKU Public Radio a BCS presidential oversight committee will likely act on the proposal at a meeting next Tuesday.

Ground Broken for Health Sciences Complex

Dignitaries pose for photograph at site of Health Sciences Complex groundbreaking

Groundbreaking ceremonies took place in Bowling Green Wednesday for a Health Sciences Complex that will be constructed on the campus of the Medical Center. Those speaking at the ceremony stress that  the new structure will help to provide instruction for nursing and physical therapy students at WKU.

WKU Students Win Hearst Journalism Award Honors

Three Western Kentucky University students finished among the top three nationally in the finals of the 52nd annual Hearst Journalism Awards Program . Brynn Anderson of Bowling Green and Armando Sanchez of Clovis, Calif., finished second and third, respectively, in the National Photojournalism Championship.

While UK Lays Off Workers, Other Kentucky Schools So Far Have Not

The majority of the state's public universities are not following the University of Kentucky's lead in laying off a large number of employees to balance the budget. UK announced this week that 140 employees will be laid off and 160 unfilled positions will be eliminated.

Venus Viewing Party Scheduled at WKU Tuesday Evening

The planet Venus will pass in front of the sun late Tuesday, in an event that won't happen again for 105 years. A special educational activity is planned at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium to provide a safe way for people of all ages to view and learn more about the event.
